Her father is an Argentine who is of Scottish as well as English descendance. The mother of her is Spanish-English. Taylor Joy is the youngest of four brothers and sisters, with one coming from each of her parents' prior marriages. The family was in Buenos Aires until she was six then relocated to the Victoria area in London. Taylor Joy stated that moving from Buenos aires to Victoria was difficult and she did not take the time to learn English and was hoping to go again to Argentina. The school she attended had to be changed from Northlands and then Hill House. She then enrolled at Queen's Gate School and studied ballet and performed in school's dramas. After she turned 16, she dropped out of school in order to make a career of acting. Taylor-Joy's dream to be a professional actress started at a young age.
